Kaleidoscopic Postcards of famous Oil Paintings by Rose-Ann-Mary-K Kaleidoscopic Postcards of famous Oil Paintings by Rose-Ann-Mary-K
Design and Interaction Project.
Brief: Create a desirable object inspired by the book "Ways of Seeing" by John Berger.

Following the themes of reproduced imagery and overwhelming information surrounding us, I created Kaleidoscopic Patterned Postcards created from famous oil paintings by the old masters.
All of these artists were mentioned in “Ways of Seeing”.
I designed 12 postcards, alongside the packaging, with the cover, back and contents page.

Paintings used:
Van Gogh: ‘Self-portrait’, ‘The Starry Night’, ‘Sunflowers’ and ‘Bedroom in Arles’
Vermeer: ‘The Girl with a Pearl Earring’ and ‘The Milkmaid’
Da Vinci: ‘Mona Lisa’ and ‘The Last Supper’
Trioson: ‘Ossias receiving the Ghosts of the French Heroes’
Holbein: ‘The Ambassadors’
De Zeem: ‘Still Life with Lobster’
Botticelli: ‘The Birth of Venus’

It's interesting how some famous paintings take a while to get recognised as a kaleidoscopic pattern, at least by me. :meow:

Yeah, I know what you mean.
Some are really obvious (like the Mona Lisa) and then some are really abstract and obscure.

Indeed! It took me quite some time to recognise Vermeer's Milkmaid, for example.
